May you all have a safe, happy and all-around blessed Holiday Season and New Year!

Well, kinda. Just got to chat with Christian in Russia via video-link through Skype. And got to 'meet' his host family, too! :)

So, just got a call from Christian via Skype. He's been blogging about his experiences in Russia -- http://xerotolerance.blogspot.com -- and apparently having a great time. Though of course I had to tease him that he updated his blog with info about his arrival etc., before he even emailed his family to say he'd arrived okay. LOL. I'm so proud of him for doing this volunteer thing - it takes guts and commitment to take a month unpaid time to volunteer somewhere. I'm glad he has a job that appreciates him enough to let him do it! :) Check out his blog and follow his link to pics -- funny and cool (no pun intended ... you'll see what I mean).

In other news ... Went to a see a jazz band last night with my landlord, his girlfriend, and my friend Genevieve. Decided about 20 seconds in that, yep, I wasn't mistaken before, jazz isn't really my thing. I love the old numbers, etc., but the whole 'riff' thing just always seems to me like each person is playing a different piece of music, some of which is made up of randomly strung-together notes. I apologize to all the folks out there who love this form of jazz - it's probably just something like those 3-D stereogram things, some people are 'wired' the right way and some people aren't. (I can try to "look through" the dots as long as I want, but I just am NOT able to unfocus my eyes enough to see the image.:)

To end on a high note, though (pun) -- I got some REALLY yummy organic unsalted crunchy peanut butter from Trader Joe's. Slathered on a thick slice of organic wheat bread (cut off a loaf, not pre-sliced). LOVE this breakfast! :)

November 14 and it's supposed to be over 80* today. Yeah, no change in climate.... :P

And in other news -- my brother is going to Russia for a month, starting today, to teach English in a rural school. No, I don't know why, but I'm sure he'll have a blast. :) EVERYBODY WISH HIM LUCK!

Has it really been this long since I posted!? AND it's almost November!? Where the FRACK has the year gone???

Having that extra hour of daylight at the end of the workday TOTALLY makes up for losing it first thing in the morning. ::happy sigh:: I love Daylight Savings (in the spring/summer).

Not sure if I should be worried or amused .... LOL
